BDX: The new trade show on the block

Challenge:
An association dedicated to commercial green building needed help marketing their inaugural show in Chicago. The company wanted to enlist the help of the Mayor's office given the background of Chicago being a green city at the forefront of implementing green efforts in the city and setting the example nationwide.

Solution:
We proposed the association meet with the city officials and Mayor's office to get buy-in so that they would be able to establish partnerships with the green and environmental media and associations as well as the commercial building and architecture communities. H+A suggested offering trade outs for those associations and media who would endorse the new conference. News releases on the Mayor's involvement in the conference were also sent out and garnered significant media attention from trade and consumer media. Public relations consisted of forming partnerships with associations, trade media, and the local city environmental officials. We also assisted with securing ads in leading trade publications in the construction industry.

Results:
There was significant media coverage as trade publications, local television and National Public Radio attended the event. The Mayor presented the opening remarks to kick off the event. Significant media partnerships were forged for future trade shows by the association.
